Time Flys

It doesn't take long for time to pass by so fast. I can hardly keep up. I continued to travel with friends and family. I finally made it to Yellowstone National Park and got to see Old Faithful. I was lucky enough to stay in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and saw the beauty and Awe of the Tetons. Truly and amazing site. I never tire of seeing Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.
Later in the year, we were able to move back to Yuma, AZ and be closer to our girls and grandkids. They grow up so quickly. It still amazes me how much they grow on a day to day basis. It's great being close to friends again and having the opportunity to see them more often.
I'm still working on quilts for my family. My goal is still to make a quilt for each one of my 14 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephew. I've put a dent in those numbers, but having a hard time keeping up. I also still make quilts for the wonderful organization....Quilt for Kids. That's never ending and so inspirational. I will post again soon with some updated pictures of the last few quilts I have completed.
Have a Blessed Day:)

Enjoying Spring

I have been keeping very busy. It's a bit exhausting watching a 2 yr. old and a 9 month old. Abigail, the 9 month old is now pulling herself up and walking along furniture. Like all babies, she's discovered dog food, oh my!
I have been very busy trying to get as much quilting and scrapbooking done. It's so hard to keep up with all the kids and events,  but I'm trying. I am continuing doing quilts for the Quilts For Kids organization. I just sent two off for them to give to a sick child. I only hope it can bring a little comfort to someone special and helps their recovery go well.
Another goal I have is to make a quilt for every one of my nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. There are twelve nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. I think that should keep me busy for awhile. I'll try to post all of them as I get them done or get a chance to.

I hope that everyone had a blessed Memorial Day Weekend and honored those who have served our country so unselfishly so that we may enjoy the freedoms to be and American citizen. God Bless!

Can't Keep up

I just can't seem to keep up with this blog stuff. I am going to try to do better. There just seems to be so much going on and so much to do.
Since my last post, I have a new granddaughter, Abigail JoLee. She came into the world a little early. She was 8 lbs 6 oz. I believe. Her and mommy had a rough start, but she is very healthy and much happier now. I will post pics of her growth soon. She was 21 inches long, so she is going to be a big girl. She already towers over any other children around her age. She has blonde hair that is finally growing in and the prettiest blue eyes.
My oldest granddaughter, Alyssa, turned 2 yrs. old in March. She's getting so big and keeps us laughing. She is starting to put more words together, so we can understand her much better now. I'm so lucky to have the priviledge to babysit them during the week.
My husband and I are enjoying them so much that we have decided to move back closer to the kids and grandkids. We hope that everything works out as planned.
I am still sewing quilts and scrapbooking. I'm not getting as much scrapbooking done as I would like, but again, I'm trying to do better. I will post some pics of the quilts that I have finished for my great nieces very soon also.
I guess that's all for now. Hopefully my next post won't take so long to appear. I hope everyone has a blessed spring!

Other News

There is alot going on right now and much to keep up with. Our second granddaughter is due to be born anytime now. She is due Sept. 10th, but we don't think she will wait that long, but who knows. We also have to finish planning details for a wedding on 10/10/10 and a postponed reception/celebration in March. So on top of showers, babies, wedding, etc, I'm also working on getting seven quilts completed before the holidays and Christmas......wish me luck!

Surprise Memory Quilt

My youngest daughter had a dog named Bruno. He was a mess and was usually getting into some kind of trouble. On 8/8/08 we had to put him to sleep because of seizures. I decided to surprise her with a memory quilt of Bruno. I started with a picture when we first got him, continued with some funny ones and ended it with a picture of the both of them from the day we had him put down. When we opened our Christmas presents, all I had done were the picture blocks. I put them in a box for her to open with a note telling her that I would have it together for her soon. She was crying and laughing at the same time. Pretty soon there wasn't a dry eye in the room watching her remember this silly but lovable dog.

Daschund Quilt

I helped my friend make this quilt for my daughter. She has two doxies, red & black/tan. This is the unfinished product. I cut the dogs with my Cricut Machine. They were on the Animal Kingdom cartridge. She sewed the blocks together. I cut & finished the backing and border. We enjoyed doing this project together. I even made my own quilt label for the first time.

2nd quilt

This quilt I made for one of my many great-nieces. My goal is to make each of them one, so I will be busy for quite some time. I cut the butterfly & other shapes on my Cricut Machine. I was not quilting my quilts at this point, but trying to get up the nerve even if its just doing the Stitch in a Ditch.
